Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Functional Holistic Medicine Practitioner

“Hi, I’m Marissa.  I am a wife and mother, and I am absolutely delighted by the efficacy I have found in combining modern science and the latest in functional medicine as comprehensive and complementary medical care.  My fascination with functional and holistic healing led me to acquire multiple post-graduate degrees on these topics with a forever hungry appetite for more knowledge.  As a practitioner, my focus is on family care.  I want my patients to feel great and understand how to keep themselves and their families feeling great.”

Marissa has over 10 years experience in functional health and wellness. She has received Masters degrees in Acupuncture (M.Ac) as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine and Oriental Medicine (M.OM) from Maryland University of Integrative Health.  As a mother herself she knows first hand the benefit of treating common childhood conditions with holistic pediatrics, which she has extensive training in. She is also a Certified Herbalist, Certified NADA Detox Specialist and is Certified in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture.  Her undergraduate education includes Bachelors of Science Degrees from Northern State University in Exercise Physiology and Management.

Marissa’s love for science, research, and “proof” inspired her to begin her undergraduate coursework as a PreMed major.  It wasn’t until discovering Oriental Medicine during an internship with an internal medicine physician that Marissa changed her course of action in order to pursue a career with a more holistic + scientific approach to medical care.

“One of my favorite things about functional holistic medicine is its ability to heal the body at the root of the problem with powerful effectiveness and safety in a deeply individualized manner, respecting that by understanding the whole picture of our patient’s conditions we can help to revolutionize their quality of life. ”

Marissa treats seniors, adults, pregnant and nursing women, women hoping to conceive, teens, children and babies.  She is a member of the American Herbalists Guild, the Holistic Pediatrics Association, and the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Marissa is on a mission to help families heal safely and naturally while improving the overall quality of life.
